History 2

However, emeralds had a different and magic meaning for the natives at those times. Emeralds creation was told through a love story as no one was never told before.

At the creation times, God used to walk through the world leaving behind chain of mountains from his footprints. With some earth Tena and Fura, man and woman, were created as the only earth's habitants for a long time. They received all valleys and mountains as a gift to enjoy and make use of them, but such gift was under one condition: they must be loyal to the each other, otherwise they will get old and die as a human being.

God, Fura and Tena

For many years their lives were perfect and it was love what kept them together. One day, a man Zarbi came from a distant land in search of an exotic flower which has the power to take away pain and illness from who ingest it. With the time his search became more and more fruitless, until Fura, after having some compassion, decided to help him.

New and intense feelings arose between Fura and Zarbi, and one day those were so intense that they turned into infidelity. Immediately, Fura began to experiment aging symptoms and Tena easily realized why his love was getting older. The pain inflicted by Fura's infidelity was so deep that Tena cried for many days and his tears turned into bluish stones as they touched the ground. Then, he cut all his body veins.

God punished Fura by imposing her to carry her husband's body upon her arms until total decomposition. The blood coming from Zarbis' body created a fluent torrent, today called magdalena, and such water stream separated Fura and Zarbi for the rest of their life. Now emeralds, as crystallized tears, are witnesses of this story of love and deception.
